New York

Hold your next business meeting in the Big Apple! The global metropolis, known as an international trading hub and center for business, culture and innovation. Where else could ICT learners sharpen their international

work skills? New York offers learners a unique environment to improve their language skills right in the heart of the American job market.

Berlin

The German capital Berlin is the center of the European start-up scene. Known for its dynamic work and leisure culture, Berlin is the place-to-be for young entrepreneurs. A unique mix of culture, art and IT makes Berlin one of the most innovative cities in the world.

In addition to the headquarters of iconic companies, Berlin offers an excellent educational landscape from which many Swiss students are already benefiting. TIE International wants to connect young talents internationally and show how people live, work and innovate in Berlin.

FAQ

For Apprentices

In everyday working life, we communicate exclusively in English. You can expand your vocabulary during presentations, customer dinners and leisure outings, and we are of course there if you miss a term or don't understand something.

The minimum age for participation in the stage is 16. Apprentices can take part from the second year of their apprenticeship.

The stage includes practical work assignments as a full team member in modern companies. Learners work on real customer projects in the IT, marketing or accounting sector. The assignments are adapted to the individual level of each learner.

The stage can take place during school vacations and sometimes during school hours. This must be clarified individually with the school. TIE International supports the students in submitting the corresponding application for dispensation. Any examinations and other assessments must be completed by the students themselves. Past projects have shown that the vocational schools are very open and solution-oriented and that any catch-up work is very feasible for the learners.

Students must organize their visa, travel insurance and credit card independently. TIE International supports the students throughout the entire process and provides tips and helpful documents.

Usually, several Swiss students live together in one apartment. TIE International supports learners in finding such accommodation. Learners are generally expected to organize their everyday life themselves. In the event of complications, other concerns or emergencies, an accompanying person is available at all times.

The students have one or more contact persons on site at all times. These are young professionals and ETH students who, on the one hand, act as project supervisors and provide support with technical issues. On the other hand, they also provide administrative support in everyday life (housing, leisure activities, etc.)

In principle, students are free to organize their own free time. However, TIE International offers a voluntary program with city tours, museum trips, excursions and meals. Participation in the program is recommended by TIE International.

For Training Companies

Participants gain international work experience at a young age and can continue their personal and professional development. They are inspired by the foreign (corporate) culture and return to the training company with fresh ideas. By participating in the stage, your company positions itself in the area of promoting young talent and talent development and gains additional attractiveness as a training company.

There is no organizational effort for the teaching company. That's what TIE International is there for. We support the apprentices throughout the entire process and take care of communication with the vocational school and parents. At the same time, we provide assistance with other issues (visa, travel insurance, means of payment, packing list, etc.).

The salary will continue to be paid by the Swiss training company. Apprentices do not receive any compensation from the company abroad.

TIE International is an independent, non-profit organization that promotes intercultural exchange in vocational education and training.

The projects are partly supported financially by foundations and partly by the training companies of the respective apprentices. At the same time, members of TIE International are involved on a voluntary basis.
