Day 21 - The Rice Fiasco
29. August 2024 | Tags: Berlin 2024
We headed home at 2 a.m., and before we hung around Times Square, and after about six hours of sleep, it was time for us to get up and head to work. A quick stop at a coffee shop for coffee and a snack, then off to the office. Everyone was focused on their tasks, and around midday, some of us went to KFC while others grabbed snacks from a convenience store.
In the evening some of us went to Target to grab food for dinner. We wanted to finish the rice we bought at the beginning, so we decided to buy butter chicken sauce and to make Vietnamese spring rolls. While some went to the gym, the rest prepped the food.
When it came to the rice, someone had one job. But since he wasn’t really sure how much to make, he decided to follow his guts. Turns out, his guts led him to cook both packs—about 1.8 kg of rice. As it cooked, the pot started to fill up, and soon it overflowed. The rice was way overcooked, and nobody wanted to eat it. So, we ran to the store for more rice and tried again. The second batch was slightly overcooked, but we ate and went to bed, laughing at the mess. It turned out to be a funny evening despite the rice fiasco.
