Day 17 - A Leisurely Saturday

29. August 2024 | Tags: Berlin 2024

After a busy week, we all agreed to take it a bit slower today, catching up on rest and handling some personal tasks. With each of us choosing our own ways to unwind, the day turned out to be a nice blend of relaxation and exploring New York’s sights.

Exploring Brooklyn
In the late morning, David, Gian-Luca, and Timofey decided to make their way to Brooklyn to experience one of New York’s iconic landmarks: the Brooklyn Bridge. They walked across the historic bridge, soaking in the sights of the East River and the Manhattan skyline. Unsurprisingly, it was packed with other visitors, all eager to capture the same breathtaking views. Their journey led them to DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), where they enjoyed the charming cobbled streets and waterfront views—a classic New York experience.

Meanwhile, Colin chose to stay back to focus on some urgent schoolwork, making the most of the quiet morning to catch up.

For Lino and Noe, the day started with a trip to the gym, fitting in a workout to unwind and energize for the weekend. It was a perfect way to shake off the week’s stresses, and they returned refreshed and ready to enjoy the evening with the rest of us.

Dinner at the Wolfe
In the evening, we all regrouped for dinner at The Wolfe, a restaurant highly recommended by one of our clients. The place was pretty packed, and while the vibe was lively, it was also quite loud and crowded inside. We eventually opted for an outdoor table, where it was chilly but gave us a bit more space to relax.

One thing we’ve noticed about dining out in the U.S. compared to Switzerland is how different the approach to service is. In the States, servers are typically more conversational and would stop by to check in throughout the meal. Sometimes at the most inconvenient moments, like mid-bite. Still, this openness makes dining feel more interactive. Of course, not every server is like this; some simply stick to the basics, especially since tipping here is standard and often anticipated.

For starters, we tried a mix of unique dishes such as grilled octopus tentacles, tofu, prosciutto, and burrata. Each offered a distinct flavor to kick off the meal. For our main course, we all went for the double smash burger, which definitely lived up to the recommendation.
